How to Plant Moringa Trees

Moringa For Love has planted over 30,000 moringa trees in the past 9 years. In the coming days, we'll update this page to include how-to instructions to help your successfully grow your moringa trees!

It takes about a week for Moringa seeds to start sprouting. Once they have sprouted, plant the germinated seeds in a four-inch mud pot with green sprouts up the soil level. Moringa seedlings require some shades; do not place them in direct sunlights all day long. Click here to see some pictures of moringa seedlings.

Time to move to a bigger pot? Transplant by removing the bottom of the small pot then inserting the entire pot into a larger pot. Avoid damaging any roots during this process. We usually place it in a 5-gallon pot. Click here to see a picture of one moringa plant and here for several moringa plants.

- Leaves may turn yellow after transplant if the roots were cut or “in shock.” Click here for a photo sample.

- Leaves may turn yellow at the lower branches if you over-water

- Add support if your moringa seedlings are tall enough. Click here for a photo sample.

- Got white spots on your moringa leaves? Ouch! Spider mites love moringa leaves. Fix it by mixing one-part vinegar and 4-part water (1:4 ratio). Spray the mixture both on top and at the bottom of your moringa leaves to bring your plant back to health. Click here for a sample video.

- Remove a few top branches to support sideway growth if your moringa seedlings are growing taller but not fuller.

Moringa For Love is working with Father John Kyebasuuta of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on building a Moringa Educational Farm in Monterey Park, California. The project covers Moringa seed germination, seedling growing, intensive cultivation, sapling transplantation, leaf powder production, and oil pressing. Father John is originality from Uganda, the pearl of Africa. He will bring all the knowledge he learned about Moringa to Uganda next year. Our goal is to use Moringa to reduce malnutrition, deforestation, and poverty in Africa.
